I love building alternative transportation networks. When I worked for the City of Wilmington / WMPO I did a lot of grant writing and helped secure funds for Wilmington’s Cross City Trail and River to Sea Bikeway. I spent a lot of time planning events and encouraging the public and local businesses to get involved in alternative transportation. When my husband, Chris, and I started shopping for our first house, I asked for a list of houses for sale within ¼ mile of the Cross City Trail. And now we live, with our two boys and dog, in a neighborhood with a complete sidewalk network. The Cross City Trail is across the street. I can ride my bike to the grocery store, to get a mani/pedi, to get sushi or tacos or ice cream, to several restaurants, a tavern, and a bottle shop. I can bike to my hair dresser and doctor.
